Sharjah Economic Development Department Launches Economic Skills Training Programme with Al Qasimia University

Sharjah, The Gulf Observer: The Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) has launched the “Research Training to Develop Specialised Economic Skills” programme in collaboration with Al Qasimia University (AQU). This initiative is part of SEDD’s efforts to enhance economic knowledge within educational institutions in Sharjah and support academic development, aligning with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
The programme underscores SEDD’s commitment to social responsibility by transferring economic knowledge to universities and students. It aims to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practical economic applications in Sharjah. As part of this initiative, a team of students from Al Qasimia University participated in a two-month training programme, during which they received hands-on training in economic research and engaged in weekly sessions to explore the Emirate’s economic landscape.
Focus on Economic and Human Development
His Excellency Hamad Ali Abdalla Al Mahmoud, Chairman of SEDD, emphasized the Department’s dedication to strengthening economic and human development efforts, particularly as part of its 2025 vision for sustainable growth. He highlighted that SEDD prioritizes capacity building, skill development, and the integration of modern scientific knowledge into practical applications, in line with the Ruler of Sharjah’s vision.
Al Mahmoud further noted that the Department will continue to support entrepreneurship, develop national talent, improve market research, and enhance economic analysis mechanisms. By fostering collaboration between Sharjah’s educational institutions and global economic trends, SEDD aims to prepare a knowledgeable generation capable of driving the Emirate’s economic development.
Enhancing Economic Knowledge and Research
Dr. Amr Saleh, Economic Advisor at SEDD, stated that the Department’s expertise and skilled professionals position it as a key player in disseminating economic knowledge within educational institutions. He explained that the programme allows students and academic cadres to gain deeper insights into real-world economic scenarios.
Dr. Saleh also highlighted that students were closely monitored on a weekly basis throughout the programme, ensuring that their research projects were completed under SEDD’s guidance. This initiative strengthens the role of educational institutions by linking them to practical economic applications, equipping students with the necessary skills to integrate into the market and contribute to economic activities effectively.
