Sharjah Ruler Allocates AED 4.5 Million to Enrich Library Collections at SIBF 2024
Sharjah, The Gulf Observer: H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has dedicated AED 4.5 million to enrich the collections of public and government libraries in Sharjah, acquiring the latest publications showcased at the 43rd Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF 2024).
The event, one of the largest in the region, features over 2,500 publishers and exhibitors, presenting a diverse range of literary and academic contributions from Arab and international authors. This substantial annual grant reflects the Ruler’s commitment to promoting the book industry and enhancing access to knowledge across Sharjah and the UAE.
Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Book Authority, highlighted the grant’s importance, stating, “This initiative aligns with our mission to elevate the publishing sector and integrate current scientific and intellectual resources into public spaces, keeping our community at the forefront of knowledge and innovation.” She emphasized the transformative impact of libraries in guiding society toward future growth.
This annual funding not only bolsters Sharjah’s libraries with new publications but reinforces Sharjah’s role as a global knowledge hub, supporting research, cultural growth, and literacy both locally and internationally.
