Shavkat Mirziyoyev Attends Opening Ceremony of 5th World Nomad Games

Astana, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the opening ceremony of the Fifth World Nomad Games held at Astana Arena. The prestigious event was also attended by prominent leaders including President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan, President Sadyr Zhaparov of the Kyrgyz Republic, National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and Rais of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, along with other distinguished foreign guests.

The Fifth World Nomad Games, which celebrate the rich heritage and traditional sports of nomadic peoples, bring together over 2,000 athletes from approximately 90 countries. Uzbekistan is strongly represented in the tournament, with athletes competing in various traditional sports such as kurash, olish, tug-of-war, archery, horse racing, and strongman competitions.

The opening ceremony featured a theatrical performance that showcased the cultural legacy of nomadic civilizations, highlighting their history, traditions, and customs.

Following the ceremony, President Mirziyoyev returned to Tashkent. He was seen off at Astana International Airport by Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.

The Fifth World Nomad Games are expected to foster cultural exchange and international camaraderie while promoting the unique sports and traditions of nomadic peoples.
