Shavkat Mirziyoyev Meets with Azerbaijani Intelligence Chief

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: On October 17, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, received Orkhan Sultanov, the Head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan, during his working visit to Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, Mr. Sultanov conveyed the heartfelt greetings and best wishes of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to President Mirziyoyev. Both sides engaged in discussions on advancing the strong alliance and multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, building on recent high-level agreements.
The leaders highlighted the ongoing intensive contacts and productive exchanges between the two nations at various levels, noting with satisfaction the steady growth in mutual trade and investment. Both sides also acknowledged the proactive steps taken to support and accelerate joint cooperation projects, alongside efforts to foster cultural and humanitarian engagements.
A significant portion of the discussions focused on strengthening interdepartmental cooperation and enhancing coordination between the special services of both nations. Emphasis was placed on addressing key security concerns, including the fight against terrorism, extremism, radicalism, and cybercrime, as well as tackling other contemporary security challenges.
Additionally, the two sides explored ways to expand practical cooperation aimed at supporting Afghanistan’s economic development, underlining the importance of regional stability and prosperity.
This meeting reaffirms the strong, cooperative ties between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, setting the stage for further collaboration in key sectors.
