Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Raisi discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation
Tehran, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ebrahim Raisi met in a narrow format at the Jumkhuri Palace of the Saadabad complex in Tehran.
The head of our state thanked the President of Iran for the invitation to visit Iran and the warm hospitality of the delegation of Uzbekistan.
The prospects for the development of bilateral practical cooperation and topical issues on the regional agenda were considered. It was noted that the parties attach great importance to the further expansion of trade, economic and investment cooperation.
The presidents discussed opportunities for increasing the volume of mutual trade, coordinating cooperation in the field of transport and logistics.
Particular attention was paid to the use of the shortest transport and logistics corridors connecting Central Asia with Iran.
Measures were discussed to implement joint investment projects in the fields of energy, chemical industry, pharmaceuticals and medical technology, food industry, textiles, industrial building materials, mechanical engineering, instrumentation and electrical engineering.
In the field of agriculture, areas of cooperation have been identified for the construction of greenhouses, the production of agricultural equipment, the introduction of water-saving technologies, the exchange of experience in horticulture and fish farming, and the selection of drought-resistant crops.
The parties expressed their commitment to the development of cultural, scientific and innovative exchanges. It was noted that the governments of the two countries will contribute to building up business and scientific contacts.
The importance of joining the efforts of the parties in the fight against such global challenges and threats as international terrorism, drug trafficking, cyberterrorism, and human trafficking was emphasized.
The heads of states agreed to continue the dialogue on strengthening peace and stability in Afghanistan and promoting the socio-economic reconstruction of the neighboring country.
The importance of multilateral cooperation within the framework of various international and regional organizations was also noted.
