Shehbaz Sharif Expresses Condolences on the Passing of Former Chinese Leader Wu Bangguo

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Wu Bangguo, the former Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) and former Vice Premier of China. In a heartfelt message posted on the social media platform X, the Prime Minister described Wu as an outstanding leader of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and a true friend of Pakistan.

Shehbaz Sharif highlighted Wu Bangguo’s significant role in strengthening bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and China, noting that his visit to Pakistan in 2006 remains a milestone in the enduring friendship between the two nations. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and the people of China in this difficult moment,” the Prime Minister wrote.

Wu Bangguo, born in 1941, held several prominent positions within the CPC, including membership in the Political Bureau and Secretariat of the 14th CPC Central Committee. He was also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau for both the 16th and 17th CPC Central Committees. His distinguished career included serving as Vice Premier of the State Council and as Chairman of the Standing Committee of the 10th and 11th NPCs.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif conveyed his heartfelt condolences to Wu Bangguo’s family and the people of China, emphasizing the loss of a respected leader who contributed greatly to fostering the deep ties between the two nations.
