Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre Brings Eid Joy to Thousands in Solo Through Humanitarian Initiative

Solo

Solo, The Gulf Observer: The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre in Solo, Indonesia, in collaboration with the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation (ZayedCHF), successfully implemented the “Eid Al-Adha Joy Project”, bringing relief and celebration to thousands of underprivileged families during the blessed occasion of Eid Al-Adha.

The humanitarian initiative, funded by ZayedCHF, provided nearly 16 tons of sacrificial meat and distributed Eid clothing to approximately 40,000 individuals (7,900 families) in Solo. The project saw broad participation from the community and local volunteers, highlighting strong social solidarity and collective goodwill.

A key component of the initiative was a two-day shopping bazaar where beneficiaries — including children, families, orphans, and people of determination — received shopping vouchers to select their own Eid outfits. This bazaar was organized in coordination with local shops and tailoring houses, ensuring both dignity and cultural relevance in the assistance provided.

In addition to the aid distribution, a festive Eid Al-Adha celebration was held in Solo, featuring traditional performing troupes, competitions, children’s games, and the distribution of traditional Indonesian sweets, made in collaboration with local home-based producers. Organizers estimate that the festival attracted over 40,000 visitors during the Eid days, making it one of the city’s largest community celebrations in recent times.

Dr. Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi, Director General of ZayedCHF, emphasized that the initiative reflects the values and vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, aiming to ease the burdens on underprivileged families and spread happiness during the holy occasion. “Our mission is to reflect the authentic humanitarian values, spirit of social solidarity, and generosity that define the UAE’s leadership and its people,” he said.

Dr. Sultan Al Rumaithi, CEO of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre in Solo, praised the strong social and volunteer engagement, noting that the project was particularly impactful for widows, orphans, people of determination, and boarding school students. “The Eid Al-Adha Joy Project succeeded in reviving the festive spirit and spreading joy among deserving segments of the community,” he stated.

This initiative is a testament to the UAE’s ongoing commitment to international humanitarian outreach, particularly during significant religious and cultural occasions.
