Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed Highlights Dubai’s Creative Vision at Downtown Design 2024
Dubai, The Gulf Observer: H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, attended the 11th edition of Downtown Design, the premier event of Dubai Design Week and the Middle East’s foremost showcase for contemporary design, held from 6–9 November.
During her visit, Sheikha Latifa praised Downtown Design’s role in showcasing Dubai’s dynamic creative spirit and fostering innovation across various design disciplines. She noted that the exhibition has established itself as a vital platform for dialogue and collaboration, allowing artists and designers to envision the future of design in Dubai.
“Downtown Design has created expansive spaces for creators to share insights and transform their ideas into remarkable works of art,” she said. “It strengthens Dubai’s position as a global creative capital, offering designers resources, guidance, and opportunities to reach a worldwide audience.”
Sheikha Latifa toured various exhibitions, including the ‘Designers from the Emirates’ showcase, highlighting emerging UAE talent. She also engaged with designers and exhibitors presenting diverse displays, from cultural handicrafts to innovative installations, emphasizing Dubai’s rich cultural diversity. Notably, she explored initiatives like ‘Designed in Saudi Arabia’ and ‘Interior Designs from Spain,’ which underscore Dubai’s collaborative ethos in the design world.
Her visit also included the inaugural Editions fair, the region’s first platform for limited-edition art and design, and meetings with notable designers, including Aljoud Lootah and Iwan Maktabi.
