Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: During the Turkmen-Korean Business Forum held on Tuesday, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol underscored the necessity of establishing direct air links between South Korea and Turkmenistan. This move, Yoon stated, would significantly bolster economic and cultural exchanges between the two nations, as reported by the official media of Turkmenistan.
President Yoon highlighted the strategic importance of Turkmenistan, known for possessing the fourth-largest natural gas reserves globally, and its synergistic collaboration with South Korea, a leader in advanced industrial technologies. He emphasized the urgency of accelerating economic cooperation, with a particular focus on the energy sector.
“There are vast opportunities for effective partnership in the shipbuilding industry. South Korea has a powerful industrial potential in this sector. Currently, Korean and Turkmen engineers are jointly working on constructing multipurpose maritime vessels at the Balkan shipyard and ship repair plant,” President Yoon articulated.
The President also noted the enduring commitment of both nations to a comprehensive and constructive partnership. He expressed confidence that the business forum would serve as a robust platform to fortify the traditional relations of friendship and cooperation between South Korea and Turkmenistan.
On the same day, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, held a meeting with President Yoon. The discussions further solidified the collaborative efforts and mutual understanding between the two leaders, aiming to expand bilateral ties in various sectors.
The forum is expected to lay the groundwork for future collaborative projects and enhance the economic landscape of both countries through shared expertise and resources.
