St. Lawrence Pilgrimage Draws Hundreds to Czech Republic’s Highest Peak

Prague, The Gulf Observer: Hundreds of pilgrims from both sides of the Czech-Polish border gathered today for the traditional St. Lawrence pilgrimage to Sněžka, the highest mountain in the Czech Republic.
According to the Hradec Králové Diocese, around a thousand people attended a special mass held at noon at the summit’s Chapel of St. Lawrence. The event marked the 1,767th anniversary of the saint’s martyrdom and brought together local mayors, mountain rescue teams, national park officials, clergy, and politicians.
The annual pilgrimage, held on St. Lawrence’s feast day, celebrates the patron saint of the Krkonoše Mountains as well as cooks, brewers, and innkeepers, preserving a centuries-old cultural and religious tradition in the region.
