State President Lương Cường Meets with Vietnamese Community in Chile to Strengthen Bilateral Relations
Santiago, The Gulf Observer: During his official visit to Chile, Vietnamese State President Lương Cường, along with a high-ranking delegation, met with staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Chile on the evening of November 9. The visit aimed to foster solidarity and further deepen the Vietnam-Chile comprehensive partnership.
Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyễn Việt Cường briefed the President on the Vietnamese community in Chile, noting that while modest in size, the community remains united, with most residing in southern Chile and others in Santiago and northern regions. Ambassador Cường expressed commitment to strengthening ties in national defense, economy, and trade, while fostering a united representation that contributes to the Vietnam-Chile relationship.
President Lương Cường commended the embassy and the Vietnamese community for their dedication to advancing Vietnam’s foreign policy and contributing to the comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and Chile. He emphasized Vietnam’s steady socio-economic progress under the Party’s leadership, noting the country’s maintained macroeconomic stability, inflation control, and socio-political security amid global challenges. He highlighted Vietnam’s commitment to independence, sovereignty, and an active foreign policy.
Underscoring the Party and State’s support for the overseas Vietnamese community as an integral part of the nation, President Lương Cường called on the embassy to act as a bridge in enhancing Vietnam-Chile relations. He urged the embassy to further its efforts in political, economic, and cultural diplomacy, with a focus on advising and facilitating economic, trade, and investment cooperation between the two countries.
The President encouraged the embassy to build a strong, transparent Party organization and representative agency, and to provide timely support to the Vietnamese community in Chile. He expressed hope that the community would remain unified, actively participate in initiatives toward their homeland, and maintain close connections with one another.
