Table Tennis Diplomacy: China-U.S. Friendship Strengthened Through Youth Exchanges

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning highlighted the positive impact of mutual visits between young table tennis teams from China and the United States, stating that these exchanges added a new chapter to the stories of China-U.S. friendship. The Peking University table tennis team visited the U.S., participating in the USATT Table Tennis Open Championships and engaging in events commemorating historic ping-pong diplomacy.
Conversely, the University of Virginia’s table tennis delegation visited China for the China-U.S. Youth Ping-Pong Exchange at Tsinghua University. Mao emphasized that such interactions contribute to people-to-people exchanges, stating that the hope of China-U.S. relations lies in the people, with exchanges at subnational levels fostering vitality.
Referring to the 53-year-old stories of “the little ball moving the big ball” in Beijing, Mao expressed China’s readiness to collaborate with the U.S., building on the spirit of ping-pong diplomacy and promoting ongoing people-to-people exchanges for the benefit of bilateral relations.
