Thailand Introduces Visa-Free Entry for Uzbek Citizens

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: Starting July 15, 2024, the government of Thailand has officially introduced a visa-free entry policy for up to 60 days for citizens of Uzbekistan and 92 other countries, according to media reports. This update was confirmed by the Consulate General of Uzbekistan. Previously, Thailand allowed visa-free entry for citizens of 57 countries; the new policy expands this list to include China, India, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and 32 other nations.
This new visa-free regime applies to visitors entering Thailand through all border posts, facilitating easier travel for tourists and business visitors alike. The Thai government implemented this policy unilaterally to stimulate economic growth, though it retains the right to revoke the policy if necessary.
The Thai Foreign Ministry has indicated that negotiations are currently ongoing to establish an intergovernmental agreement on a mutual visa-free regime between Uzbekistan and Thailand. This development aims to strengthen bilateral relations and promote tourism and business exchanges between the two countries.
Prior to this change, citizens of Uzbekistan could obtain a 15-day tourist visa upon arrival at the airport for a fee of US$60. The new policy significantly extends the permitted stay duration, offering greater convenience and encouraging longer visits.
This initiative is expected to boost Thailand’s tourism sector and enhance economic cooperation with the newly added countries, reflecting Thailand’s commitment to fostering international relations and economic development.
