Tô Lâm Attends Inaugural Gaza Board of Peace Meeting in Washington

Washington, DC,, The Gulf Observer: General Secretary of the Communist Party of Việtnam, Tô Lâm, attended the inaugural meeting of the Gaza Board of Peace in Washington, DC, on Thursday morning (local time) at the invitation of U.S. President Donald Trump, who serves as the Board’s founding chairman.
The high-level meeting brought together heads of state and leaders from more than 50 countries, including founding members and observers of the Gaza Board of Peace, underscoring broad international engagement in efforts to stabilise and reconstruct the Gaza Strip.
Coordinated Efforts for Gaza Stabilisation
In his address, President Trump emphasised that the Gaza Board of Peace is designed as a coordination mechanism working alongside the United Nations to streamline humanitarian aid delivery, reconstruction initiatives, and regional stabilisation efforts.
Participants outlined key pillars for the transitional phase in Gaza, including:
- Restoring security through civilian police forces
- Promoting economic recovery
- Ensuring sustainable humanitarian relief
- Rebuilding essential public services
The meeting also featured presentations on long-term reconstruction plans, including debris clearance, construction of 400,000 homes, development of hotel complexes, establishment of a 5G network and logistics systems, and the creation of open economic zones.
Financial Commitments and Global Support
During the session, nine countries pledged a combined US$7 billion in support of the people of the Gaza Strip. The United States announced a US$10 billion contribution to the Board of Peace.
The World Bank further announced the establishment of the Gaza Reconstruction and Development Fund to manage donor contributions and mobilise additional financing from governments and the private sector.
Việtnam’s Position and Commitment
President Trump expressed appreciation for General Secretary Lâm’s participation, affirming respect for Việt Nam’s growing international role and influence.
Việt Nam joined the Gaza Board of Peace with the aim of contributing to efforts to end the conflict, protect civilians, ensure safe and unimpeded humanitarian access, rebuild essential infrastructure, and promote a credible political process toward lasting peace in the Middle East.
Reaffirming its consistent foreign policy stance, Việt Nam emphasised that all disputes and conflicts must be resolved peacefully, in accordance with international law, the UN Charter, and respect for the fundamental rights and legitimate interests of all parties.
Drawing on its own historical experience of war and international assistance, Việt Nam expressed readiness to cooperate closely with Board members and contribute, within its capacity, to humanitarian relief, infrastructure reconstruction, and trust-building among stakeholders.
Việt Nam also underscored support for concrete measures to restore peace, security, and livelihoods in Gaza, while advocating for an inclusive political process aligned with international law and the UN Charter. To ensure sustainable peace, Việt Nam stressed the importance of broad participation by all relevant parties, particularly Palestinian authorities, in the implementation of stabilisation and reconstruction measures.
