Washington, The Gulf Observer: Party General Secretary Tô Lâm received Kurt M. Campbell, former US Deputy Secretary of State, on the afternoon of February 20 (local time) during his visit to Washington, D.C., where he attended the inaugural meeting of the Gaza Board of Peace.

During the meeting, General Secretary Lâm shared Việtnam’s key orientations in its new development phase, highlighting the vision and strategic goals outlined at the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Việtnam. He underscored national priorities including institutional reform, accelerating economic growth, advancing science and technology, promoting innovation, expanding the digital and green economies, and enhancing deeper, more effective international integration.

The Party chief commended Campbell’s important role and positive contributions in advancing Việtnam–US relations over the years. He reaffirmed Việtnam’s consistent foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, as well as its proactive and responsible engagement in addressing regional and global issues.

General Secretary Lâm encouraged Campbell to continue acting as a trusted bridge between Việtnam and the United States, as well as with the international business community. He emphasised the importance of promoting policy dialogue, providing strategic analysis on global economic and technological trends, and strengthening connections between US enterprises and Vietnamese ministries, agencies and local authorities — particularly in high technology, finance, digital infrastructure and clean energy sectors.

He also called for encouraging US companies to expand cooperation and investment in Việtnam alongside improvements in governance standards and market transparency. The Party leader stressed the importance of timely and constructive feedback from the business community at early stages of policymaking to enhance feasibility and effectiveness in public–private partnerships.

Emphasising that “investors’ success is Việtnam’s success,” General Secretary Lâm reaffirmed the country’s commitment to improving the investment climate, maintaining socio-political stability, enhancing institutional quality, and creating the most favourable conditions for international businesses to operate in a long-term, efficient and sustainable manner. He expressed Việt Nam’s desire for deeper cooperation with the global business community, sharing responsibilities and benefits in sustainable development.

For his part, Campbell congratulated Việt Nam on the successful 14th National Party Congress and General Secretary Lâm on his re-election as head of the 14th Party Central Committee. He praised the Party chief’s visit to the United States, noting that both the trip and Việtnam’s participation in the Gaza Board of Peace demonstrate the country’s proactive and responsible contributions to peace, stability and international cooperation.

Campbell also expressed strong appreciation for Việt Nam’s development vision and strategic orientations, describing them as a solid foundation for maintaining stability and achieving rapid, sustainable growth. He noted that US businesses view Việt Nam as a strategic destination within global supply chains and innovation networks and affirmed their readiness to continue supporting economic, investment and business connectivity between the two nations.
