Trump and Harris Locked in Close Contest as Battleground States Await Final Counts
Washington D.C., The Gulf Observer: Former President Donald Trump has won 15 states, while Vice President Kamala Harris has secured seven states and Washington, D.C., according to preliminary data from Edison Research. However, the presidential race remains undecided, with pivotal battleground states likely to delay results for several hours or even days.
As anticipated, the election hinges on seven swing states — Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin — where polling showed a close contest between the candidates. By 9:30 p.m. ET (0230 GMT Wednesday), polls had closed in 41 states and Washington, D.C., giving Trump 162 electoral votes and Harris 81. With multiple paths to victory still open, both candidates are vying to reach the required 270 electoral votes to secure the presidency.
Decision Desk HQ has projected Trump’s victory in North Carolina, though other media outlets and Edison Research have yet to confirm this outcome. In Georgia, Trump held a lead with 52.3% of the vote, while Harris trailed with 47.1%, with 77% of ballots counted.
