Trump Pledges to Strengthen Strategic Partnership with Azerbaijan

Trump

Washington, The Gulf Observer: U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday expressed appreciation to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan for upholding the peace agreement signed between the two countries last August.

In a statement posted on his “Truth” social media platform, President Trump said the conflict had been a severe and prolonged war, adding that its resolution marked one of several conflicts he said had been brought to an end under his leadership. He noted that the current situation reflects a transition toward peace and prosperity in the region.

President Trump announced that U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance is scheduled to visit Azerbaijan and Armenia in February to further build on peace efforts and advance what he described as the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity.”

He said the United States plans to strengthen its strategic partnership with Azerbaijan, while pursuing a peaceful nuclear cooperation agreement with Armenia. In addition, Trump highlighted prospects for new commercial arrangements involving major U.S. semiconductor manufacturers, as well as the sale of U.S.-made defence equipment to Azerbaijan, including body armour, boats and other items.

The U.S. president concluded his statement by reaffirming Washington’s commitment to supporting peace, stability and economic cooperation in the South Caucasus region.
