Trump Raises Global Tariff Rate to 15% After Supreme Court Ruling

Washington, The Gulf Observer: President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that he will raise the temporary global tariff rate on imported goods from 10 percent to 15 percent, following a ruling by the Supreme Court of the United States that struck down tariffs imposed under an economic emergency law.
Earlier, President Trump had introduced a 10 percent worldwide tariff after the apex court deemed his administration’s reciprocal tariffs illegal. In a 6–3 decision, the Supreme Court ruled that the president had overstepped his legal authority by imposing broad tariffs without clear approval from Congress.
Responding to the ruling, Trump said he had conducted a “thorough, detailed, and complete review” of what he described as a “ridiculous, poorly written, and extraordinarily anti-American decision on Tariffs.”
In a post on Truth Social, the president stated that, effective immediately, he would raise the 10 percent worldwide tariff to the “fully allowed, and legally tested” 15 percent level. He added that many countries had been “ripping” the United States off for decades without retribution.
The move signals a renewed escalation in U.S. trade policy, with potential implications for global markets and international trade relations.
