Turkish Defence Firm Aselsan Sets Sights on Global Top 30 by 2030
Ankara, The Gulf Observer: Turkish defence provider Aselsan has announced its ambitious goal to rank among the top 30 defence companies worldwide by 2030. CEO Ahmet Akyol revealed the company’s strategic plan during Aselsan’s debut at the Farnborough International Airshow in the United Kingdom, where the firm showcased over 50 products in six categories, including avionic systems, electronic warfare solutions, electro-optical cameras, radar systems, and communications technologies.
“The aim of our 2030 program is to place Aselsan among the top 30 defence firms worldwide from its current position of 47 within seven years,” stated Akyol. “Towards that goal, we are working day and night to ensure our success.”
Established 49 years ago, Aselsan has grown into one of Türkiye’s leading defence companies, providing advanced solutions for land and sea platforms to the Turkish armed forces and international clients. Speaking to reporters at the event, Akyol emphasized Aselsan’s strategic investments aimed at boosting the Turkish economy through high-tech production.
“We export products worth $2,000 per kilogram, and our investments enhance Türkiye’s international cooperation,” Akyol noted. Aselsan’s annual revenue has reached $2.5 billion, with offices, factories, and operations in 18 countries and 16 subsidiaries in Türkiye. The CEO highlighted that the company will continue its efforts to achieve its targets with a focus on high-tech and innovation-oriented approaches.
Akyol also pointed out Türkiye’s significant advancements in aviation, mentioning that the nation now exports unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), helicopters, airplanes, and even homegrown satellites, with Aselsan playing a key role in these developments.
