Turkish FM and US Secretary of State Discuss Latest Gaza Ceasefire Proposal
Washington, D.C., The Gulf Observer: Indirect talks between Israel and Palestine, mediated by the United States, Qatar, and Egypt, have not yet resulted in a permanent ceasefire in Israel’s ongoing conflict with Gaza. Despite intense negotiations, an agreement remains elusive.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan discussed the latest proposal in a phone call with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Friday, diplomatic sources reported. The proposal is part of ongoing efforts to end the hostilities that have besieged Gaza.
US President Joe Biden recently disclosed that Israel has presented Hamas with a three-phase deal designed to halt all violence in Gaza and secure the release of hostages held within the enclave. “It’s time to begin this new stage, the hostages to come home, for Israel to be secure, for the suffering to stop. It’s time for this war to end, for the day after to begin,” President Biden stated in remarks delivered from the White House.
Despite a UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate truce, Tel Aviv has continued its offensive in Gaza. The international community remains watchful, hoping for a breakthrough that would bring an end to the conflict and alleviate the suffering of those affected.
