Turkish Foreign Minister Receives Chinese Ambassador Liu Shaobin

Ankara, The Gulf Observer: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan received Liu Shaobin, the Chinese Ambassador to Turkiye, according to an announcement by Türkiye’s Foreign Ministry on X on Wednesday.

The meeting between Minister Fidan and Ambassador Liu Shaobin follows Fidan’s first official visit to China as Foreign Minister, a position he assumed in June 2023. During his visit to China, Fidan traveled to Beijing as well as to Urumqi and Kashgar in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.

In recent times, Turkey has actively sought to strengthen its relations with various regions of China. Reflecting this commitment, Ankara expanded its diplomatic presence in China by opening the Chengdu Consulate General last year. This addition complements Turkey’s existing embassy in Beijing and consulates in Guangzhou, Shanghai, and Hong Kong.

The visit and ongoing diplomatic engagements underscore Turkey’s strategic efforts to enhance bilateral relations with China across multiple dimensions.
