Türkiye and Iran Aim to Boost Bilateral Trade to $30 Billion

Urmia, The Gulf Observer: Governor of Türkiye’s Hakkari province, Ali Çelik, has called for efforts to expand bilateral trade between Türkiye and Iran to $30 billion annually. Çelik made the remarks on Friday during the 7th joint cooperation meeting between Iran’s West Azarbaijan province and Türkiye’s border provinces, held in Urmia, Iran.

Currently, annual trade exchanges between the two nations range from $7.5 to $10 billion, according to Çelik. He emphasized the potential for growth, noting that modern equipment and optimized customs and border market methods could significantly enhance trade relations.

The two-day meeting, attended by 200 businessmen from Iran and the Turkish provinces of Iğdır, Ağrı, Van, and Hakkari, focused on fostering cooperation in areas such as economy, trade, transportation, culture, science, and tourism.

The 8th joint cooperation meeting is scheduled to take place in Türkiye’s Van province, continuing efforts to strengthen ties between the neighboring countries’ border regions.
