Türkiye Condemns Israeli Airstrikes on Syria as Threat to Regional Stability and Sovereignty

Ankara, The Gulf Observer: Türkiye’s Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz and Communications Director Burhanettin Duran on Wednesday issued strong condemnations of Israel’s recent airstrikes on Syria, warning that such actions pose serious threats to both Syrian sovereignty and regional peace.
“Israel’s attacks on Syria constitute a clear threat not only to Syria’s sovereignty but also to the stability and peace of our region. I strongly condemn these attacks,” Vice President Yılmaz stated in a post on social media platform X.
He emphasized the importance of Syria’s post-conflict reconstruction process, noting that the country is at a critical juncture after enduring years of internal turmoil. “The initiation of the reconstruction process in Syria is of vital importance both for the oppressed Syrian people and for regional security,” he said.
“In such a period, Israel’s continuation of its aggressive stance is a clear act of sabotage of regional peace and international law,” he added.
Echoing the vice president’s concerns, Türkiye’s Communications Director Burhanettin Duran also criticized the Israeli airstrikes, which targeted Syria’s Defense Ministry and areas near the presidential palace in Damascus.
“These attacks on Syria target not only Syria’s stability and security but also the peace of our entire region. I condemn this attack that threatens Syria’s sovereignty and unity,” Duran said. “Türkiye, as it has done so far, will continue to support Syria’s territorial integrity in the future.”
The airstrikes came amid ongoing violence in southern Syria’s Suwayda province, where Israeli forces resumed attacks and issued warnings demanding the withdrawal of Syrian troops from the area. The Israeli military claimed its operations were aimed at protecting the Druze minority, following deadly clashes between Druze and Bedouin groups that left at least 30 people dead.
Syrian army units were reportedly deployed to the region to restore order, further escalating tensions.
Türkiye’s officials reaffirmed the country’s longstanding policy of supporting Syria’s territorial integrity and criticized unilateral military actions that risk undermining fragile regional stability.
