Turkiye Condemns Storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli Radicals

Ankara, The Gulf Observer: The Turkish Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque by hundreds of Israeli radicals, including several government ministers, warning that the act will “further escalate tensions” in the region. The ministry issued a statement on Tuesday, describing the incident as a provocation that violates the historical status of Jerusalem.

“The storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque by hundreds of radical Israelis, including ministers, under police protection is a provocation that violates the historical status of Jerusalem and will further increase escalation in our region,” the statement read.

The ministry also expressed deep concern over the implications of this act, stating that it underscores Israel’s lack of intention to pursue peace. “This provocative act shows again that Israel has no intention of reaching peace,” the statement added.

Turkey called on the international community to take immediate action to halt the Israeli government’s actions in Gaza and to prevent further provocations that could destabilize the entire region.

Earlier, approximately 2,250 illegal Israeli settlers, accompanied by Israel’s far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, Otzma Yehudit party minister Yitzhak Wasserlauf, and Likud party Knesset member Amit Halevi, stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex. The group entered the site to commemorate Tisha B’Av, a Jewish fast day marking several historical disasters.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry’s statement reflects growing concerns over the escalating situation in Jerusalem and the broader region, urging global leaders to intervene to prevent further deterioration of peace and stability.
