Türkiye, Germany Discuss Iran War, Call for Diplomatic Efforts to End Escalation

Türkiye

Ankara, The Gulf Observer: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a telephone conversation on Monday with his German counterpart Johann Wadephul to discuss the ongoing war involving Iran and efforts to bring the conflict to an end, according to Turkish Foreign Ministry sources.

During the call, the two ministers exchanged views on diplomatic initiatives aimed at de-escalating tensions and achieving a cessation of hostilities. The conflict, which began on February 28 following a joint offensive by the United States and Israel against Iran, has since escalated across the region.

In response, Tehran has launched drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, as well as Jordan, Iraq, and several Gulf countries hosting U.S. military assets. The escalation has resulted in casualties, infrastructure damage, and significant disruptions to global markets and international aviation.

Hakan Fidan reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to pursuing diplomatic channels to end the conflict and restore regional stability. In recent days, he has engaged in extensive diplomatic outreach, holding separate discussions with key regional and international stakeholders, including Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, as well as officials from the United States and the European Union.

The two sides underscored the importance of coordinated international efforts to prevent further escalation and to support peaceful resolution mechanisms in the Middle East.
