Türkiye Hopes Wave of Palestine Recognitions Will Boost Two-State Solution: Erdogan

Istanbul, The Gulf Observer: President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed hope on Sunday that forthcoming decisions by several countries to recognize the State of Palestine will help accelerate the implementation of a two-state solution.
Speaking to reporters in Istanbul ahead of his departure for New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly summit, Erdogan said this year’s gathering is distinct from previous sessions due to the number of countries expected to formally recognize Palestine.
Turning to Syria, Erdogan noted the planned attendance of Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa at the General Assembly, stressing that Türkiye “will not abandon Damascus” and will continue to use all available means to support its neighbor’s strength and stability.
The Turkish president added that he will also hold a meeting with President Sharaa at New York’s Turkevi Center (Turkish House) during the course of the summit.
