Türkiye Retains Third Place for Blue Flag Beaches
Ankara, The Gulf Observer: Türkiye has proudly maintained its third-place ranking for Blue Flag beaches this year, boasting an impressive total of 567 beaches recognized under this prestigious category. This accomplishment underscores the country’s commitment to environmental standards and coastal safety.
In a recent post on X, Turkish Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy expressed pride in the country’s consistent success in the Blue Flag awards. He emphasized that the government is determined to achieve the top ranking in the future.
“The Blue Flag awards, signifying clean and safe beaches, are bestowed by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark,” Ersoy noted. He highlighted that the Turkish government has been diligently working to increase the number of Blue Flag beaches each year, with 16 additional beaches earning the designation this year alone.
“Blue Flags suit our beaches very well. This year, 567 beaches, 27 marinas, 18 tourism boats, and nine individual yachts in our country have been awarded the Blue Flag,” Ersoy stated, reflecting on the breadth of Türkiye’s achievements in this area.
Currently, Spain holds the top position for the most Blue Flag beaches, followed by Greece in second place. Türkiye’s steadfast performance has secured its third-place ranking, ahead of Italy in fourth and France in fifth.
This continued success in the Blue Flag awards highlights Türkiye’s dedication to maintaining high environmental standards and promoting sustainable tourism, reinforcing its position as a leading destination for pristine beach experiences.
