Turkmen Delegation Explores Cooperation with Daewoo E&C in Seoul
Seoul, The Gulf Observer: On September 5, 2024, a high-level Turkmen delegation, led by Deryageldi Orazov, Chairman of the State Committee for the Construction of Arkadag City, held a productive meeting with Baek Jung-wan, CEO of Daewoo Engineering & Construction (E&C), in Seoul. According to News Central Asia, which cites reports from Korean media, the meeting focused on expanding cooperation between Turkmenistan and the South Korean firm in the fields of construction and fertilizer production.
The Turkmen delegation included Rahimberdi Jepbarov, Chairman of the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs, and Begench Durdiyev, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to South Korea. The discussions centered on Daewoo E&C’s interest in launching two fertilizer production projects in Turkmenistan, as well as the company’s broader experience in constructing new cities and high-rise buildings around the world.
Baek Jung-wan emphasized Daewoo E&C’s capability to deliver high-quality projects, citing the firm’s successful global track record. The company has maintained a presence in Turkmenistan since October 2023, when it opened a branch in Ashgabat to facilitate ongoing and future projects in the region.
Deryageldi Orazov expressed a positive evaluation of Daewoo E&C’s proposals and affirmed Turkmenistan’s readiness to explore further opportunities for collaboration. This meeting marks another step forward in strengthening economic ties between Turkmenistan and South Korea, with a focus on sustainable urban development and industrial growth.
