Turkmen FM and UN Representative Review Preparations for Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, H.E. Rashid Meredov, held a virtual meeting with Ms. Rabab Fatima, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries, and Small Island Developing States, to review preparations for the upcoming Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3).

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the discussion focused on organizational and logistical arrangements for the event, including the readiness of facilities for plenary sessions, roundtable discussions, forums, and other parallel events. Both sides acknowledged the significance of ensuring seamless coordination to guarantee the successful hosting of the international forum.

The meeting underscored the vital importance of the LLDC3 Conference in advancing the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in the context of improving connectivity, trade facilitation, and resilience among landlocked developing nations.

The Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries is scheduled to take place from August 5 to 8, 2025, in the Avaza National Tourist Zone on the Caspian coast. The conference is expected to draw participation from over 100 high-level delegations, including heads of state, ministers, and representatives from international organizations.
