Turkmen President Receives WHO Europe Chief, Awarded for Advancing Health Diplomacy

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Monday received Hans Kluge, Regional Director for Europe of the World Health Organization, who is visiting the country, state media reported.
During the meeting, Kluge presented the head of state with a special WHO award in recognition of Turkmenistan’s contributions to advancing peace, unity, and diplomacy in health. The award acknowledges the country’s consistent efforts to promote international cooperation and solidarity, as well as its active engagement in health diplomacy in partnership with the WHO and the United Nations.
President Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude for the recognition, noting that it reflects the WHO’s assessment of the work undertaken in Turkmenistan and the progress achieved in the national healthcare sector.
He highlighted that a high-level training seminar on global health diplomacy—scheduled to take place during Kluge’s visit—will serve as an important platform for reviewing the current state of cooperation and exchanging views on future collaboration.
The President reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s readiness to further expand its partnership with the WHO, building on the positive experience of previous joint initiatives.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of best wishes and a shared commitment to strengthening cooperation in the field of public health.
