Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan to Cooperate on Reviving Akhal-Teke and Karabakh Horse Breeding Traditions

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: Turkmen horse breeders and their Azerbaijani counterparts may soon begin collaboration to revive the ancient art of breeding the renowned Akhal-Teke and Karabakh horses, Turkmenistan’s National Leader and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, announced.

Speaking at the 12th Summit of the Heads of State of the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS), Berdimuhamedov underscored the shared cultural heritage of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan and the importance of preserving traditional crafts and practices.

“We are making efforts to promote the carpet-weaving traditions of our two nations, and we also envisage cooperation in reviving the ancient art of breeding horses, particularly the Akhal-Teke and Karabakh breeds,” he stated.

The National Leader, also known as Hero-Arkadag, expressed confidence that such initiatives would make a meaningful contribution to strengthening cultural relations between the two countries.

Berdimuhamedov further proposed organizing similar collaborative projects with other fraternal Turkic states to deepen cultural exchange and enhance mutual understanding within the Turkic world.
