Turkmenistan and Iraq Enhance Energy, Transport, and Petrochemical Cooperation

Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: A meeting was held at the Embassy of Iraq in Abu Dhabi between Serdar Garajayev, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the UAE, and Dr. Mudhafar Al-Jbori, Ambassador of Iraq to the UAE. The meeting focused on the current development of relations between Turkmenistan and Iraq.

During the discussions, the ambassadors reviewed the recent visit of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iraq to Turkmenistan and the signing of a contract for the supply of natural gas from Turkmenistan to Iraq through Iran under the “SWAP” scheme.

A key topic of conversation was the participation of Iraq’s leadership in the upcoming International Forum of Heads of State and Government, dedicated to the 300th birthday anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi, scheduled for October 2024 in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

The ambassadors also explored future bilateral cooperation, particularly in the energy, transport, and petrochemical sectors. They agreed to continue diplomatic efforts to strengthen cooperation in various fields such as economy, culture, and education.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation.
