Turkmenistan and Latvia Hold Political Consultations in Riga

Riga, The Gulf Observer: Political consultations between Turkmenistan and Latvia were held in Riga, bringing together high-ranking officials from both nations to discuss bilateral cooperation and regional partnerships.

The Turkmen delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Akhmet Gurbanov, while the Latvian side was represented by Deputy Secretary of State and Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Ivars Lasis.

During the discussions, both sides addressed key issues and explored prospects for strengthening cooperation at both the bilateral level and within the framework of the European Union, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

A major focus of the consultations was the enhancement of trade and economic ties between the two countries. Officials emphasized that regular meetings, business forums, and exhibitions serve as vital platforms for fostering direct connections between business communities in Turkmenistan and Latvia.

Additionally, the parties considered the potential for leveraging Latvia’s experience to facilitate Turkmenistan’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO), underlining the importance of economic collaboration in advancing Turkmenistan’s global trade integration.

The diplomats also discussed the necessity of improving the legal framework governing interstate relations. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening interparliamentary dialogue and enhancing cooperation across various sectors.

The consultations underscored the mutual interest of Turkmenistan and Latvia in expanding diplomatic, economic, and legislative ties, paving the way for further constructive engagement in the future.
