Turkmenistan and Pakistan Explore Enhanced Cooperation in Transport and Logistics

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: On August 23, 2024, Turkmenistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov met with Farrukh Shahzad Rao, Director General of Pakistan’s National Logistics Corporation, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ashgabat. The meeting focused on strengthening the long-standing Turkmen-Pakistani relations and exploring new avenues for collaboration, particularly in the transport and logistics sectors.
Both parties acknowledged the significant potential for further development of bilateral ties, emphasizing the importance of economic cooperation. Discussions centered on establishing partnerships to develop international transport and transit corridors, a priority aligned with the dynamic transport policy of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan.
The meeting also highlighted opportunities to increase the volume of transit cargo, simplify customs procedures, and leverage port infrastructure to enhance the economic integration of countries in the region. This dialogue marks a step forward in deepening economic ties between Turkmenistan and Pakistan, with a focus on shared growth and regional connectivity.
