Turkmenistan and Pakistan Strengthen Bilateral Ties, Focus on Energy Cooperation

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, discussing bilateral cooperation in various sectors, according to the News Hub Consultants.

Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the growing Turkmen-Pakistani partnership across political, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres. They emphasized the need to strengthen collaboration and explore new opportunities for mutual benefit.

A key focus of the discussion was energy cooperation, particularly the implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline, a high-voltage power line, and a fiber-optic communication system along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan route. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to these strategic projects and its interest in furthering energy collaboration with Turkmenistan.

The Pakistani Prime Minister also congratulated Turkmenistan on the United Nations’ declaration of 2025 as the “International Year of Peace and Trust,” acknowledging the broad international support for Turkmenistan’s policy of positive neutrality. He assured Pakistan’s active participation in related international events.

During the conversation, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif extended an invitation to National Leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to visit Pakistan at their convenience, underscoring Pakistan’s commitment to deepening relations with Turkmenistan.
