Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: The first meeting of the Mejlis (parliament) of Turkmenistan of the seventh convocation was held on Thursday at the Center of Public Organizations with the participation of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov. Mejlis Speaker and the Deputy Chair were elected at the meeting.

Following the Article 80 of the Turkmenistan’s Constitution and a secret ballot at the first session of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan of the seventh convocation, Dunyagozel Akmuhammedovna Gulmanova was elected Chair of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, the official Turkmen media reported.

Addressing the Turkmen President, deputies, and all participants, the Chair of the Parliament expressed sincere gratitude for the trust and assured that she would spare no effort, experience, or knowledge in completing the important tasks assigned to the legislative body.

During the conference, Gahryman Ovlyakuliyevich Rozyyev was elected Deputy Speaker of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan.

In addition, eight committees were formed in the structure of Turkmenistan’s Mejlis, and the heads of the committees were elected.
