Turkmenistan, Japan Agree to Launch Direct Flights and Expand Regional Transport Cooperation

Tokyo, The Gulf Observer: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met on Saturday with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi in Tokyo, where both sides agreed to intensify efforts to launch direct air service between the two countries, according to a press release from Japan’s Foreign Ministry.
The introduction of direct flights is expected to enhance cross-border mobility and create new opportunities for the development of bilateral economic ties.
During the meeting, the leaders also confirmed their commitment to promote and expand cooperation on the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, aiming to strengthen regional connectivity and improve access for Central Asian countries, including Turkmenistan, to global markets.
Earlier, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan had reached an agreement to restore direct air service, further facilitating regional transport and trade links.
