Turkmenistan Launches Nationwide Cotton Harvest Campaign for 2025 Season

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: Turkmenistan officially commenced its annual cotton harvest on September 10, with picking operations launched simultaneously across all regions of the country, state media reported. The campaign is of vital importance to both the agricultural sector and the national economy.
As per tradition, the harvest season was ceremonially inaugurated by respected elders, who offered prayers for the prosperity and well-being of the nation and its people. The symbolic start was marked with the phrase “Bismillah!”.
According to the report, the application of modern technologies and agricultural innovations is ensuring the production of high-quality cotton fiber, which serves as the principal raw material for the textile industry. Turkmen cotton continues to maintain stable demand in international markets.
Cotton cultivation remains a cornerstone of Turkmenistan’s agro-industrial complex, playing a significant role in advancing import substitution initiatives and strengthening the country’s export potential. Favorable climatic conditions enable the successful cultivation of both medium- and fine-fiber cotton varieties.
To further boost production, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a decree in November last year instructing the Ministry of Agriculture, the Türkmenpagta State Concern, and regional administrations to ensure the achievement of targeted harvest volumes for the 2025 season.
