Turkmenistan Libraries Commemorate Magtymguly Fragi’s 300th Anniversary

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: In honor of the 300th anniversary of the esteemed poet and humanist thinker Magtymguly Fragi, libraries across Turkmenistan are actively participating in diverse events to celebrate his enduring legacy.
The Central Library named after Magtymguly, part of the Centralized Library System of the Ashgabat City Department of Culture, collaborated with the Bagtyyarlyk etrap administration to organize a dedicated meeting themed around the motto for 2024, “The Fount of the Mind of Magtymguly Fragi.” Speakers at the event underscored the timeless significance of Magtymguly’s creative heritage, emphasizing its role in instilling patriotism and high humanistic values among the younger generation.
A collaborative effort between the State Library of the State Center of Culture of Turkmenistan, the State Children’s Library named after Bazar Amanov, and the library of Mary velayat resulted in an insightful online conference. Focused on the theme of statehood in Magtymguly’s works, the conference delved into the profound exploration of the poet’s literary legacy, considering it a global cultural asset. The conference also outlined tasks for library workers in promoting Magtymguly’s creative heritage and imparting its deep meaning and artistic value to the younger audience.
Another engaging initiative was a conversation titled “Makhtumkuli Fragi – the spiritual beacon of the Turkmens.” Organized by the Centralized Library System of the Ashgabat City Department of Culture and the State Library of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan, the conversation emphasized the ongoing efforts in Turkmenistan, led by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, to study Magtymguly’s creative legacy. The goal is to disseminate his humanistic ideas and perspectives on concepts such as patriotism, courage, humanism, friendship, and morality to the global community. The event highlighted the commitment to preserving and sharing the invaluable contributions of Magtymguly Fragi to Turkmen literature and culture.
