Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: Large-scale water management and land reclamation projects will be among the key development priorities for Turkmenistan’s agro-industrial sector in 2026, according to a report published by the newspaper Neutral Turkmenistan on Tuesday.
The report states that priority initiatives will include the construction of collector-drainage networks leading to Turkmen Lake Altyn Asyr, the development of a reservoir with a capacity of 90 million cubic meters, and the modernization of irrigation systems across all regions of the country.
Additional measures in the agricultural sector will involve the installation of impermeable lining in Dashoguz Province, reconstruction of the Shasenem Collector, and efforts to increase the carrying capacity of the Karakum River.

The program further emphasizes the development of livestock farming, expansion in the number of cattle, small ruminants, and poultry, as well as the integration of artificial intelligence technologies in agriculture.
In 2026, the agro-industrial sector is expected to continue implementing strategic objectives designed to strengthen food security. According to the report, special attention will be given to production under the state order system, the adoption of environmentally friendly solutions, and the gradual improvement of land reclamation conditions.
