Turkmenistan Publishes Official 2026 Work Calendar

Turkmenistan

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: Turkmenistan has released its official 2026 work calendar, detailing the schedule of working days, weekends, and public holidays for the coming year, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection announced.

According to the new calendar, the workweek in 2026 will follow three standard formats: a five-day, 40-hour week; a six-day week with seven-hour workdays totaling 40 hours; and a six-day week with six-hour days totaling 36 hours.

The list of public holidays for 2026 includes:

  • January 1 – New Year
  • March 8 – International Women’s Day
  • March 20 – Oraza Bayram
  • March 21–22 – National Spring Holiday
  • May 18 – Constitution and State Flag Day
  • May 27–29 – Eid al-Adha
  • September 27 – Independence Day
  • October 6 – Memorial Day
  • December 12 – International Day of Neutrality

Under the regulations, the workday preceding a public holiday will be shortened by one hour. Night shifts will also be reduced by one hour and, in continuous-production sectors, counted as equivalent to daytime working hours.

The ministry noted that average monthly working hours for next year are set at 166.9 hours for a standard 40-hour week and 150.5 hours for a 36-hour week.

The annual work calendar serves as an important planning tool for enterprises and institutions across the country. It is used to calculate salaries, schedule employee leave, organize production cycles, and structure operational activities throughout the year.
