Turkmenistan, Russia Pledge to Deepen Strategic Partnership in Wide-Ranging Talks

Moscow, The Gulf Observer: Turkmenistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov held talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow, focusing on strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation across multiple sectors.
Details of the discussions were shared during a joint press conference, according to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to advancing cooperation in trade, transport, infrastructure, and energy, while also underscoring the importance of cultural and humanitarian collaboration. Planned joint projects include the establishment of a Turkmen-Russian university, the construction of a new building for the Pushkin Theater, and the expansion of a jointly operated school.
The diplomats highlighted the significance of continued engagement within the framework of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). Preparations for the second “Central Asia–Russia” meeting, set to take place in October alongside the CIS summit in Tajikistan, were a key focus, alongside upcoming initiatives in the Caspian Five format at both ministerial and high levels.
Lavrov and Meredov noted that more than three decades of cooperation in trade and economic fields have created a strong foundation for expanding ties between Turkmenistan and Russia, as well as with Russian regions.
The talks reaffirmed the solid basis for further strengthening the strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation.
