U.S. and Australian Ministers to Convene in Annapolis for AUSMIN

Canberra, The Gulf Observer: The United States and Australia will hold their annual Australia-U.S. Ministerial (AUSMIN) dialogue on August 6 in Annapolis, Maryland, according to an announcement by the U.S. Embassy in Canberra on Monday. The meeting will bring together U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin with their Australian counterparts, Foreign Minister Penny Wong and Defence Minister Richard Marles.

The embassy’s statement emphasized the significance of this dialogue in enhancing bilateral cooperation on a broad spectrum of global and regional issues, further deepening the longstanding U.S.-Australia alliance. “Secretary Blinken and Secretary Austin look forward to strengthening our cooperation on the full range of global and regional issues and deepening the U.S.-Australia alliance with their Australian counterparts,” the statement read.

The U.S. and Australia maintain a close partnership, particularly in efforts to counterbalance China’s growing influence in the Pacific region. This collaboration is expected to be a key topic during the discussions in Annapolis.

During the previous AUSMIN meeting, held in Queensland, Australia, both nations committed to aiding Australia’s production of guided multiple-launch rocket systems by 2025. This commitment underscores the ongoing efforts to bolster defence capabilities and strategic coordination between the two allies.
