UAE and Germany Deepen Strategic Cooperation, Sign Multiple Agreements

Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met on Friday with Friedrich Merz, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, to explore ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in support of shared interests and development priorities.
The meeting was held at Qasr Al Shati during the German Chancellor’s official visit to the United Arab Emirates. Discussions highlighted the strong relations and productive partnerships between the two countries, particularly in the fields of energy, innovation and advanced technology. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed underscored the UAE’s commitment to further expanding cooperation for the benefit of both nations and their peoples.
The two leaders also exchanged views on a range of regional and international issues of mutual concern, emphasising the importance of supporting regional and global stability through dialogue and diplomatic solutions.
During the meeting, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and Chancellor Merz witnessed the announcement and exchange of several memoranda of understanding aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation. These included an agreement between ADNOC and RWE on cooperation across the gas and liquefied natural gas value chain, as well as a separate MoU between Masdar and RWE focusing on battery energy storage systems.
Additional agreements included an MoU between TA’ZIZ, Fertiglobe and Covestro to enhance cooperation in the chemicals sector. In the field of sports, an MoU was signed between the UAE Pro League and the Bundesliga to strengthen collaboration and exchange expertise.
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed hosted a luncheon in honour of the German Chancellor and his accompanying delegation. Earlier, an official reception ceremony was held at Qasr Al Shati, where the UAE President welcomed Chancellor Merz and greeted a number of sheikhs, ministers and senior officials.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs, along with several ministers and senior UAE officials.
