UAE Announces Start of Holy Month of Ramadan on February 18

Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: The Presidential Court has officially announced that Wednesday, February 18, 2026, will mark the first day of the Holy Month of Ramadan in the country.

The announcement followed the decision of the Moon Sighting Committee for Ramadan, convened by the UAE Council for Fatwa on Tuesday evening, corresponding to the 29th of Sha’ban 1447 AH (February 17, 2026), in Abu Dhabi. The committee confirmed the sighting of the crescent moon, thereby declaring the commencement of Ramadan from Wednesday.

In an official statement, the Presidential Court extended heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai; Their Highnesses the Members of the Supreme Council and Rulers of the Emirates; Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court; as well as the Crown Princes, Deputy Rulers, the people of the UAE, and the wider Muslim world.

“On this blessed occasion, we pray to Allah Almighty to bestow prosperity, blessings, goodness, and joy upon our beloved nation. All praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds,” the statement read.

The confirmation ushers in the sacred month of fasting, prayer, and reflection for Muslims across the UAE, with communities preparing to observe Ramadan in a spirit of unity, devotion, and generosity.
