UAE Commends ICJ’s Additional Measures for Gaza Humanitarian Aid, Urges Israel’s Compliance
Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) extends its warm welcome to the supplementary provisional measures recently issued by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) pertaining to the genocide case presented by the Republic of South Africa. The measures call upon Israel to facilitate increased humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip and to expand the operation of crossing points for the transfer of essential food and medical supplies.
Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, reiterated the UAE’s profound appreciation for the concerted efforts of South Africa in championing this cause. She underscored the imperative of safeguarding civilians and ensuring the expeditious, sustainable, and unimpeded delivery of humanitarian and relief assistance to Gaza.
The UAE further emphasized the urgent need to avert further loss of life and to prevent escalation of tensions in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. Minister Al Hashimy stressed the gravity of the humanitarian crisis gripping innocent civilians in the Gaza Strip, urging immediate action to alleviate their plight.
Central to the UAE’s stance is the imperative of forging a political pathway towards the realization of a two-state solution, ensuring the establishment of an independent Palestinian state alongside the State of Israel. This, the UAE believes, represents a pivotal step towards achieving a sustainable resolution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, thereby guaranteeing an end to violence and hostilities.
The UAE reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to collaborating with international partners in intensifying efforts aimed at ameliorating the humanitarian situation in Gaza, underscoring its unwavering dedication to upholding humanitarian principles and fostering stability in the region.
