UAE Continues Humanitarian Aid Efforts for Lebanon
Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: The United Arab Emirates has reinforced its humanitarian aid initiatives for Lebanon with the dispatch of three additional planes carrying essential relief supplies, including medical and food provisions, ambulances, and shelter equipment. This latest shipment brings the total number of aircraft sent by the UAE to 12, delivering a combined weight of 515 tonnes of aid.
This effort is part of the two-week national relief campaign titled “The UAE Stands with Lebanon,” which commenced on October 8. The campaign is being conducted in coordination with various international organizations, including the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
Launched under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the campaign is being closely monitored by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court. It is also supervised by H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs, and Chairman of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council.
Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development and International Organizations, highlighted the importance of the UAE’s continued humanitarian efforts, stating that the flow of aid reflects the country’s commitment to humanitarian responsibilities and its dedication to supporting communities in times of hardship.
“The UAE has always been a global icon in humanitarian work, helping societies affected by disasters and conflicts to restore security and stability,” Al Shamsi added.
The UAE’s ongoing airlift efforts aim to provide critical assistance to the Lebanese population and refugees in Syria, underscoring the nation’s commitment to alleviating suffering and fostering resilience in affected communities.
