UAE Floating Hospital Arrives in Al Arish Port, Egypt, to Support Injured Palestinians from Gaza

Al Arish, The Gulf Observer: The UAE’s floating hospital has docked at Al Arish Port, Egypt, commencing the reception of injured and wounded Palestinians from Gaza. This humanitarian initiative aligns with the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, demonstrating the UAE’s commitment to providing comprehensive support and assistance to the people of the Gaza Strip under the ‘Gallant Knight 3’ humanitarian operation.

Established in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence, Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), and AD Ports Group, the hospital comprises a dedicated medical and administrative staff of 100 professionals from various specialties, including anaesthesia, general surgery, orthopaedics, emergency medicine, as well as nurses and paramedics.

The floating hospital boasts a capacity of 100 beds, along with operating and intensive care rooms, a radiology unit, a laboratory, a pharmacy, and medical cabinets. This maritime medical facility supplements the operations of the 200-bed UAE integrated field hospital, inaugurated on December 3, 2023, which has treated over 6,146 cases until February 24, 2024.

Dr. Falah Almahmoud, Director of the Floating Hospital, emphasized that the arrival of the medical facility enhances the UAE’s medical support to the people of Gaza, alleviating their suffering. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, the hospital provides various types of treatment and medical care adhering to the highest international standards and protocols.

Upon arrival at the port of Al Arish, the hospital immediately began receiving injured and sick cases, offering comprehensive care, treatment, and medications. The facility is equipped with a helipad and a marine boat to enhance the response to emergency and critical cases requiring rapid medical intervention.

Expressing gratitude, Palestinian patients received by the floating hospital thanked the United Arab Emirates and its wise leadership for this noble humanitarian initiative, embodying the country’s steadfast commitment to supporting the Palestinian people in all circumstances. They commended the efforts of the medical and volunteer teams for their unwavering support since the beginning of the crisis.
