UAE FM Discusses Humanitarian Aid Initiatives for Gaza with UN Coordinator Sigrid Kaag

Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), engaged in a constructive dialogue with Sigrid Kaag, United Nations Senior Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator for Gaza, to address pressing humanitarian concerns in the Gaza Strip and explore avenues for enhancing the delivery of relief aid to meet the needs of civilians.

During their telephone conversation, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah and Sigrid Kaag deliberated on strategies to facilitate the unimpeded flow of humanitarian assistance into Gaza, ensuring that relief efforts effectively reach those in need. Emphasizing the importance of addressing the ongoing humanitarian challenges, Sheikh Abdullah underscored the UAE’s commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza.

In addition to discussing humanitarian aid delivery, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah reviewed the progress of the maritime corridor initiative, designed to provide a sustainable channel for delivering essential humanitarian aid to Gaza. Recognizing the initiative’s significant role in supporting Gaza’s residents, Sheikh Abdullah reaffirmed the UAE’s dedication to collaborating with international partners to advance this critical humanitarian endeavor.

The phone call also provided an opportunity to address current regional developments and ongoing efforts to achieve a sustainable ceasefire, safeguarding the lives of civilians and intensifying humanitarian support for Gaza’s population. H.H. Sheikh Abdullah reiterated the UAE’s unwavering support for the United Nations’ efforts in coordinating humanitarian and reconstruction activities in Gaza, emphasizing the need for collective action to mitigate the impact of extremism, tension, and violence in the region.

Furthermore, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah reiterated the UAE’s commitment to fostering cooperation with the UN Senior Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator for Gaza, as well as with all relevant stakeholders involved in the maritime corridor initiative. This collaboration aims to establish a robust and sustainable mechanism for delivering vital humanitarian assistance to the northern Gaza Strip, thereby contributing to the alleviation of the Palestinian people’s suffering and promoting stability in the region.
