UAE-Germany Business Council Officially Launched in Berlin to Strengthen Strategic Economic Ties

Berlin, The Gulf Observer: In a significant move to deepen economic cooperation, the UAE-Germany Business Council (GUBC) was officially launched during a high-level ceremony held in Berlin. The event was attended by Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Special Envoy to the Federal Republic of Germany, and Katherina Reiche, German Minister of Economic Affairs and Energy.
The ceremony, held as part of Dr. Al Jaber’s official visit to Germany, gathered more than 150 senior officials and business leaders from both nations, highlighting the long-standing economic partnership built over five decades of collaboration and mutual trust.
The newly established Business Council aims to foster new avenues for trade and investment, empower the private sector, and support sustainable development amid evolving global economic and geopolitical challenges.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Al Jaber remarked:
“In line with the vision of our leadership to build high-impact partnerships that advance inclusive progress, we are committed to strengthening the deep-rooted relationship between the UAE and Germany and elevating it to new heights. The launch of the UAE-Germany Business Council will create new opportunities for cooperation across vital sectors of mutual interest, empower the private sector, and support sustainable economic development.”
The event also witnessed the official signing of the Council’s charter by Musabbeh Al Kaabi, representing the UAE side, and Günther Oettinger, former Minister-President of Baden-Württemberg and Co-Chair of the Council, representing Germany.
Musabbeh Al Kaabi, Executive Director of Low Carbon Solutions and International Growth at ADNOC and Co-Chair of the Business Council, emphasized the strategic alignment of both nations:
“The UAE and Germany share a bold and future-focused vision for global progress. Driven by innovation and grounded in mutual interests, our partnership continues to evolve. I am confident the Council will accelerate our collaboration, foster sustainable growth, and reflect our shared ambition in a fast-changing world.”
The launch event also marked a milestone in clean energy collaboration, as Masdar, the UAE’s renewable energy pioneer, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with EnBW – Energie Baden-Württemberg, one of Europe’s leading energy companies. The agreement focuses on joint development of battery energy storage systems in Germany and the United Kingdom, and outlines opportunities for collaboration in offshore wind projects in the North Sea and Baltic Sea, as well as green hydrogen and other renewable energy technologies.
The establishment of the UAE-Germany Business Council represents a forward-looking step in enhancing bilateral relations and promoting sustainable economic development through strategic innovation and cooperation.
